Higher Education and Training Deputy Minister, Dr Mimmy Gondwe, has inspired learners to look at the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges like a worthwhile and feasible different for advancing their occupations.
The Deputy Minister was speaking during an oversight visit to the post-school education and coaching (PSET) establishments inside the Western Cape this week.
Gondwe described the TVET colleges as critical for job creation and youth skills development inside the country.
The Deputy Minister frequented the West Coast College Vredenburg Campus, along with the Cape Peninsula {University of Technological innovation (CPUT) Bellville Campus in Cape Town.
Gondwe's visits aimed toward assessing the state of readiness of higher education institutions across the country, forward from the 2025 academic year.
Over the visit at West Coast College, she inspired learners to choose pleasure in acquiring artisan capabilities as they provide wonderful entrepreneurship alternatives.
"I'm very encouraged by what I'm seeing at TVET colleges, I believe they are the future of this country. TVETs are producing artisans with much needed skills [and] also offer opportunities for learners to acquire future skills, such as robotics, AI [Artificial western tvet college intelligence], and coding," Gondwe said.
At the second part of the visit, college students at CPUT expressed fears about student residences and other facilities. The Deputy Minister directed the establishment to work with the Student Representative Council (SRC), to speedily resolve the discovered troubles.

The issue of funding and administrative issues faced because of the NSFAS was inside the spotlight during the Free State leg from the visits.
